On August 24, Soka International School Malaysia (SISM) held its first entrance ceremony at its campus in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan State, welcoming 112 students from nine countries and territories. The students will study in Years 7 to 9. Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada and Senior Vice President Yoshiki Tanigawa, who are respectively SISM senior adviser and senior director, joined local dignitaries from Malaysia and six other countries at the ceremony. As the school’s founder, President Daisaku Ikeda sent a congratulatory message, encouraging the students to support each other and grow together as global citizens in the multicultural setting of Malaysia. SISM is the first international school in the Soka School system to offer the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGSCE) and International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculums taught in English.
