10/2 World Peace Day
Oct. 2, 1960: Ikeda Sensei departed for his first overseas trip to realize the ideals of his mentor, second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda. Later, this day became known as “World Peace Day.” (See The New Human Revolution, vol. 1, “Sunrise” chapter, and NHR-24, “Ode to Mothers” chapter)
10/4 The 50th Anniversary of the Poem “Mother”
Oct. 4, 1971: The poem, “Mother” was presented at a Kansai women’s division leaders meeting. Five years later, in August 1976, the song “Mother,” comprising excerpts of this poem, was completed.
10/9 65 Years Since the Yamaguchi Campaign
Oct. 9, 1956: Sensei traveled to Yamaguchi Prefecture and, under Mr. Toda’s instruction, initiated the Yamaguchi Campaign. Within three months they increased their membership tenfold. (See The Human Revolution, “Turning Point” chapter)
10/18 The Founding of the Min-On Concert Association
Oct. 18, 1963: A concert celebrating the association’s establishment was held. (See NHR-8, “Pure Stream” chapter)
